Pad Rec
Pad Rec is a great choice for your child’s birthday. There is so much to choose from. The Rose Garden (or the picnic area) makes for a lovely outside get together for the little ones. One MVM even brought water and a paddling pool to a birthday party here which was fantastic. There is a great room upstairs at the Pavillion for hire at reasonable rates, as well as the Bowling Green building (however, access is limited to the building and not the green), and most recently, the picnic area in the Environmental section looks like it would be great for older kids parties. The last three options can be booked through reception in the clock tower building. Have your Res Card ready!

Let them host and run your little one’s party. Create a bespoke party here depending on your requirements. There are two rooms and an outside area. One of the rooms could be used for adults (with the appropriate aged kids). Their usual 2 hour party includes a painting session, fun with musical instruments, interactive games, bubbles, balloons, outdoor parachute play, pass the parcel and of course, time to eat the cake.

Rascals
Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre
020 7974 2012
This is a very popular venue for birthday parties and pretty much perfect for a 3rd birthday (or older). Food and cake can be booked at Cafe Del Aziz (they have tons of perfect sized chairs) right across for Rascals or you can arrange to hire another room within the leisure centre to serve cake (or do your own catering).

The Little Gym – Westfield
Westfield Shopping Centre
W12 7GF
020 8735 0817
A great place for a party – all the climbing, gymnastic, and bouncing activity the kids love plus the ability to do your own catering in the room right before the actual gym so that everything is all in the same place. They have a long low table with perfect sized chairs, but space is quite tight around the table.

Gambado – Chelsea
7 Station Court
Townmead Court
Chelsea
Sw6 2PY
020 7384 1635
Ideal in every way. The climbing and sliding of Rascals and more, with an area for 0-2 year olds, Tiger Pots Carousel ride and dodgems – plus you get a private area for your party meal with a special tiger seat for the birthday boy or girl.

Topsy Turvy World

Gymboree – Bayswater
Gymboree – Hampstead

You have your choice of two locations (or more further afield) – Whiteleys or O2 Centre, Finchley Road. Great for an under 3′s party! You bring the food, drinks and cake and let them take care of the rest.

Pizza Express
39 Abbey Road
NW8 0AA

The upstairs can be booked for birthday parties. It’s a good sized room that can be split with tables for eating and an open area for entertainment and also has a separate bar area.

St Savior’s Primary School Hall
Shirland Road (corner of Formosa Street)
Contact Lee Higgins 020 7641 6414
MVMs love this venue and have used it consistently for our Christmas parties. The possibilities are endless here. The staff room is great for buggy storage. The large hall has little tables with attached chairs that they use for meals for the school. These are not only great for eating at, but also for doing crafts projects. The hall is also large enough (with high ceilings) for a bouncy castle! There is a smaller room downstairs that is also available for hire that leads off to the playground area outside for a combination indoor/outdoor party.

St Joseph’s Primary School
Sharpe Suite
020 7286  3518
Freestanding room closer to Clifton than Sutherland on the Lanark entrance to the school. Big open space that you can decorate as desired. There is a kitchen directly off of the room which is a big help for catering needs.

Little Venice Sport Centre
10 Crompton Street
W2 1ND
They have a large dance studio which can be hired as well as the sports hall. Food can be served in the studio. There is a great range of soft play equipment that can be put out for the little ones to enjoy during the party. The doors off the studio to the park cannot be opened but you can leave from the front entrance and walk around to the park as a way of taking your party from indoors to outside. If this venue is already booked, the dance studio at the Moberly Sports Centre on Kilburn Lane is very similar – just a bit smaller.

St Augustine’s Sports Centre
Oxford Road (opposite St Augustine’s School)
NW6 5SN
020 7641 3642
“It’s managed by the Pad Rec. The venue is brilliant, especially for football/sports based parties as the hall is very spacious and well lit. There is just enough space in the hallway outside to put up tables and chairs for the children to eat. The centre has toilet facilities and there is plenty of free parking on weekends. The hire charges are good with Rescard discounts.”

Mansergh Club
24-28 Hill Road

Cafe Med Upstairs

…as well a private area or upstairs at any of our local pubs such as Idlewild or the Elgin Bar and Grill. The combination Prince Alfred / Formosa Dining Rooms can accommodate an amazing party with food and open space in the modern dining area and the little nooks in the bar arranged for play.

Has anyone used the Maida Centre ? My daughter turns 2 soon and I wondered if it will be an appropriate space for a birthday party ? Thanks !

Hi Yuva, the Maida Centre is a good space with a small kitchen that can be handy for setting up any party food. The only thing I would flag is that the main door to the room is an automatic sliding door so if a child runs towards it, it opens and can both enable them to make a run for it or even trap their fingers (as I once witnessed with a younger child). Maybe there is a way to keep it closed but you’d have to ask them about that.
